Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Class 10 (Matric) Annual Examinations
As of February 5, 2026, the countdown for the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) Class 10 (Matric) Annual Examinations has officially entered its final 12-day phase. While Class 12 exams are currently ongoing across the state, here is the essential “need-to-know” news for Class 10 students:
1. Exam Dates and Shift Timings
The Matric theory examinations will be conducted from February 17 to February 25, 2026. The exams will be held in two shifts daily:
-
Morning Shift: 9:30 AM to 12:45 PM.
-
Afternoon Shift: 2:00 PM to 5:15 PM.
Key Subject Schedule:
-
February 17: Mother Tongue (Hindi, Urdu, Bangla, or Maithili)
-
February 18: Mathematics
-
February 20: Social Science
-
February 21: Science
-
February 23: English (General)
2. Admit Card Collection
If you have not yet received your final admit card, you must contact your school immediately. The BSEB released the official hall tickets on January 6, 2026.
-
Important: Students cannot download the final admit card directly from the website. Only school heads are authorized to download, sign, and stamp the documents before distributing them to students.
-
Mandatory: Entry into the exam hall will be strictly prohibited without a valid, school-stamped admit card and a secondary photo ID (like an Aadhaar card) for verification.
3. Strict “Zero-Tolerance” Entry Rules
BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor has implemented a strict policy regarding reporting times to prevent malpractice:
-
Gate Closure: Main gates at all 1,762 exam centers will close strictly 30 minutes before the start of the exam. For the morning shift, gates close at 9:00 AM sharp; for the afternoon shift, they close at 1:30 PM sharp.
-
No Forcible Entry: Any student attempting to enter the center illegally (e.g., jumping walls) after gates are closed will be charged with “criminal trespass,” face an FIR, and be debarred from the board for two years.
4. Footwear and Dress Code
Following the protocol of the currently ongoing Class 12 exams, the BSEB has issued a footwear advisory:
-
The “No Shoes” Rule: Generally, students are prohibited from wearing shoes and socks inside the examination hall to ensure transparency during frisking. Slippers or sandals are the recommended footwear.
-
Weather Exception: While shoes were temporarily allowed until today (February 5) for intermediate students due to a cold wave, Matric students should watch for a new notification closer to February 17 to see if this relaxation continues.
5. Special Provisions for Visually Impaired Students
The board has scheduled alternative papers for visually impaired candidates who cannot take the regular Mathematics or Science papers:
-
Home Science will replace Mathematics on February 18.
-
Music (Theoretical) will replace Science on February 21.
6. Preparation Alert
The BSEB has warned students and parents against “viral” question papers appearing on social media platforms like WhatsApp and Telegram. These are frequently fake or from previous years. Students are advised to focus on NCERT textbooks and the official model papers released on the BSEB website to understand the 100-question objective (MCQ) format, where you must answer any 50 items.
