NEW DELHI — The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high-level Orange Alert for 11 states, including Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar, as a series of intense Western Disturbances sweep across Northern India.

Critical Weather Update:

  • Squall Warning: Gusty winds reaching speeds of 60-70 kmph accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning are expected within the next 48 hours.
  • Agricultural Impact: Farmers currently harvesting ‘Rabi’ crops (Wheat and Mustard) have been advised to postpone activities and move produce to safe storage.
  • Temperature Drop: A sharp 3°C to 5°C dip in mercury is likely, providing temporary respite from the early March heatwave.

 

Citizens are advised to avoid staying under old structures or trees during the peak storm hours predicted between 4:00 PM and 8:00 PM today.
